London/Beijing/New Delhi/Washington (TASSAWAR NEWS) – The world has witnessed a historic boom in solar energy installations this year, marking a new milestone in the global shift toward clean energy. According to data from the energy think tank Ember, solar installations in the of 2025 surged by 64% compared to the same period in 2024.
In 2024, the world added 232 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity in the first six months. This year, however, the world surpassed the 350 GW milestone by June—a record that wasn’t achieved until September last year.
China Leads the Charge
China continues to dominate the solar energy sector, doubling its installations compared to last year and adding more capacity than the rest of the world combined.
- In the first half of 2024, China’s share stood at 54% of global solar capacity.
- In 2025, that percentage has climbed even higher, reinforcing China’s leadership in the renewable energy transition.
Other Countries on the Rise
Beyond China, other nations collectively installed 124 GW of solar capacity in the first six months of 2025, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
- India ranked second with 24 GW of new solar capacity.
- The United States followed closely with 21 GW, securing third place.
A Turning Point for Clean Energy
Analysts say this record-setting surge highlights the accelerating pace of renewable energy adoption, fueled by falling costs, supportive policies, and urgent climate goals. With solar power breaking records year after year, the global energy landscape is rapidly shifting toward a sustainable, low-carbon future.
