Lahore (TASSAWAR NEWS ) – Pakistani television actress Maria Malik has reflected on her three-year journey in showbiz, sharing her experiences of both struggles and achievements in the entertainment industry.
Struggles in the Early Days
In an exclusive magazine interview, Maria revealed that she initially wanted to play lead roles, but was mostly offered supporting characters such as the friend or sister of the lead.
“I used to decline those offers, but producers would treat me as if I hadn’t done anything important,” she said.
Her persistence, however, eventually paid off. With time and recognition, the same production houses that once rejected her began offering lead roles.
Industry Challenges & Boundaries
Maria admitted that while she personally had a smooth experience, the industry isn’t equally safe for everyone.
“This place is not unsafe for everyone, but unfortunately, it is not equally safe for everyone either,” she remarked, pointing to the darker stories she has heard from others.
She also highlighted the lack of constructive feedback in the drama industry, noting that unless a serial becomes a massive hit, it rarely receives critical attention.
Secret to Her Success
Maria credited her progress to choosing the right company, setting clear boundaries, and prioritizing self-respect. She avoids unnecessary socializing and only attends events related to her work.
Her professional and disciplined approach, she believes, is the real reason behind her smooth journey and rising success.
