U.S. Federal Judge Overturns Trump Administration’s $2.6B Funding Cut to Harvard University

Boston (TASSAWAR NEWS) A U.S. federal judge has struck down the Trump administration’s decision to cut $2.6 billion in research funds allocated to Harvard University, declaring the move illegal and retaliatory.

According to news agencies, the judge stated that the funding cuts had no legal grounds and were not connected to allegations of antisemitism on campus.
He further ruled that the government used antisemitism as a pretext to launch an ideological attack on Harvard.

Reports indicate that the Trump administration had first frozen Harvard’s research funding, accusing the university of failing to curb antisemitic behavior on campus, before officially converting the freeze into direct funding cuts.

The court’s decision is seen as a significant victory for academic freedom and may influence future cases regarding federal funding for U.S. universities.
