LAHORE (TASSAWAR NEWS) The nation today (Saturday) commemorates the 60th Defence and Martyrs’ Day with patriotic zeal, honoring the unmatched sacrifices of the armed forces, martyrs, and ghazis who defended Pakistan with courage and resilience.
On September 6, 1965, the Indian Army launched an unprovoked attack across the international border in the cover of darkness. However, Pakistan’s brave soldiers, backed by the unwavering spirit of the people, foiled the enemy’s nefarious designs and wrote a golden chapter in history.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Prayers were offered in mosques for the prosperity of Pakistan and the freedom of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Quran Khawani and Fateha were also held for the martyrs.
