Pakistan Urges Global Community to Stop Indian “Water Terrorism” at UN

New York (TASSAWAR NEWS) Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, held India responsible for the devastating floods in Pakistan and urged the international community to support Pakistan in stopping what he termed as “Indian water terrorism.”

Speaking at an important UN session on the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan’s water crisis, and future strategy, Asim Iftikhar said:

  • Floods in Pakistan destroyed crops and displaced thousands.
  • Water must not be used as a weapon of war.
  • Pakistan believes the global community will stand by it during this crisis.
  • Water security is one of the most pressing challenges of the present era.

He added that India’s actions regarding the Indus Waters Treaty have undermined international trust and credibility. Under the treaty, India is legally bound to share water data with Pakistan, he reminded.

Pakistan’s Strong Response on Israel

During the same session, Asim Iftikhar also condemned Israel’s unprovoked strike on Qatar, calling it a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

He said:

  • Israel deliberately attacked a mediator (Qatar) during ongoing talks.
  • Israel is an occupier, aggressor, and serial violator of international law.
  • Its representative’s remarks at the UNSC were misleading and an insult to the Council.
  • Israel tries to shift blame and hide its illegal actions by targeting others with baseless accusations.

The Pakistani envoy stressed that Israel ignores not only international law but also the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC), while threatening the UN, global media, and humanitarian organizations.

He warned that despite playing the victim, Israel has been exposed as an occupying power that commits state terrorism in Gaza and across occupied Palestinian territories.

Pakistan’s Anti-Terror Role

Rejecting Israel’s attempts to drag Pakistan into unrelated matters, Asim Iftikhar highlighted that:

  • Pakistan has been on the frontline in the global war on terror, making enormous sacrifices.
  • Pakistan’s efforts led to the near elimination of al-Qaeda.
  • The world, including Pakistan’s partners, acknowledges Islamabad’s decisive role against terrorism.

He concluded that Pakistan cannot accept lectures from a rogue state engaged in decades-long state terrorism against Palestinians, urging the UNSC to recognize Israel’s aggression.
