New York (TASSAWAR NEWS) The United States has given a mixed response to Israel’s recent strikes on Doha, Qatar, calling them “regrettable” but simultaneously defending Israel’s right to pursue Hamas.
Speaking at the UN Security Council, U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shea said:
- The strikes on Qatar were unfortunate and did not advance the objectives of either the U.S. or Israel.
- However, chasing Hamas remains a legitimate and essential target, fully supported by Washington.
- Hamas must lay down arms, release remaining Israeli hostages, and accept a Gaza ceasefire deal.
She reiterated American support for Israel, noting that Prime Minister Netanyahu had spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump, once again expressing Israel’s commitment to peace.
Earlier, the UN Security Council condemned the attack on Qatar in an emergency session, but notably avoided directly naming Israel in its statement.
