Lahore: (Tassawar News) The Pakistan cricket team is set to begin its training sessions today in preparation for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against South Africa, scheduled to start on October 28 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the national squad will hold its first practice session this evening at the Rawalpindi Stadium, focusing on fitness drills, fielding routines, and match-specific strategies.
Series Schedule and Preparation
The T20 series, consisting of three matches, will take place entirely in Rawalpindi, marking the continuation of Pakistan’s busy home season. The opening match is scheduled for October 28, followed by games on October 30 and November 2.
This series holds significant importance for Pakistan’s preparations ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, as selectors and coaching staff aim to fine-tune combinations and assess emerging talent under competitive conditions.
Pakistan’s recent performances in limited-overs cricket have been mixed, with the team showing promise but struggling with consistency, especially in the middle order and death bowling. Facing a strong South African side provides an ideal opportunity for the team to test their resilience and adaptability at home.
The PCB has also emphasized that the Rawalpindi pitch conditions will be closely monitored to ensure a balanced contest between bat and ball. Both teams are expected to arrive with their full-strength squads, ensuring a high-quality series for cricket fans worldwide.
In addition, Pakistan’s participation in awareness campaigns such as the Pink Ribbon initiative — where the team will wear special pink kits during the first match — highlights the board’s commitment to combining sports with social causes.
Expert View
Cricket analysts believe that the series will be crucial for Pakistan’s senior players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, as well as newcomers hoping to secure spots in future international tournaments. South Africa, on the other hand, will look to continue their winning momentum from previous overseas tours.
