Betting Apps Scandal: More YouTubers Summoned as NCCIA Expands Investigation

(TASSAWAR NEWS) – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has widened its probe into illegal betting and trading applications, issuing fresh summons to several well-known YouTubers and social media influencers.

According to officials, those called for questioning include Mudassar Hassan, Muhammad Anas Ali, Sistrology’s Iqra Kanwal, and Muhammad Husnain Shah, who have been directed to appear before NCCIA Lahore on Tuesday.

Authorities allege that these influencers promoted unlicensed gambling and investment apps, luring thousands of young followers into risky schemes that caused widespread financial losses.

One notice issued to Iqra Kanwal accuses her of being part of a “planned scheme” designed to mislead and exploit people by endorsing such platforms. Officials have warned that non-compliance with the summons will strip the influencers of their right to present a defence.

The case follows the recent arrest of popular YouTuber Ducky Bhai, who was taken into custody at Lahore airport on August 16, 2025. His physical remand has already been extended as the investigation progresses.

Public anger is growing on social media, with users demanding stricter punishments and permanent bans on betting apps.

One user commented: “It’s about time these scams are exposed. People lost their life savings.”
Another wrote: “Influencers must be held accountable. They betrayed their audience for money.”

Calls for reforms and tougher laws against unlicensed gambling promotions are intensifying, with many hailing the crackdown as a necessary step toward cleaning up the digital landscape.
