Israeli Attack a Violation of International Law, Pakistan Stands with Qatar: Foreign Office

Islamabad (TASSAWAR NEWS) The Foreign Office has declared that the Israeli attack on Qatar is a violation of international law, affirming that the people of Pakistan stand firmly with the brotherly nation of Qatar. The Prime Minister has also emphasized the need for the Muslim Ummah to unite against Israeli provocations.

In a press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said that Pakistan condemns Israeli atrocities in Gaza and seeks a resolution of the Palestine issue in accordance with UN resolutions.

He further stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made an emergency visit to Qatar in response to Israeli aggression. The Pakistani nation stands with Qatar, and the attack on Qatar is a blatant violation of international law. He added that Pakistan and Somalia jointly requested an emergency meeting.

The spokesperson said that Israel’s targeting of Qatar, a mediator state, was an attempt to sabotage peace negotiations. Pakistan and Qatar have always stood by each other in times of difficulty. The Prime Minister assured the Qatari leadership of Pakistan’s full support and solidarity.

Shafqat Ali Khan also mentioned that the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan visited Pakistan to discuss various bilateral matters.

The spokesperson further said that repeated Israeli attacks on sovereign states are alarming, and in this context, the Arab Islamic Summit has been convened in Doha. Pakistan is closely monitoring the Middle East situation and possesses full capability to defend itself.

He added that Pakistan assumed the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s counter-terrorism body on September 10 and will continue anti-terrorism efforts with regional and global partners.

The Foreign Office also condemned India for denying bail to Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, despite his battle with cancer.

Regarding Pakistan’s relations with Turkiye, the spokesperson said the two countries share strong ties, including defense cooperation. The recent visit of the Turkish Defense Minister was part of this collaboration. On President Asif Zardari’s visit to China, he clarified that it was a pre-scheduled visit, not an emergency trip.

On the issue of India’s flood-related notifications, the spokesperson said that while India provided advance information, it did not share detailed data as required, nor did it inform the Indus Water Commissioner forum.

Responding to a question about Ali Amin Gandapur’s suspended passport, he said the Ministry of Interior could clarify, but international negotiations and dialogues fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government.

He made it clear that in the context of floods, any appeal for international assistance is the prerogative of the federal government, which will make such an appeal when deemed necessary.
