Islamabad: In a remarkable gesture of solidarity, the Pakistan Army has announced the donation of one day’s ration and salary to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the contribution reflects the armed forces’ commitment to stand by the nation in times of crisis. The announcement comes after devastating floods and cloudbursts wreaked havoc in KP, claiming hundreds of lives and displacing thousands.
Relief and Rehabilitation Efforts
The donated funds and supplies will be directed towards providing food, shelter, and medical assistance to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Army relief teams are already on the ground in several affected districts, carrying out rescue operations, distributing emergency rations, and setting up temporary camps for displaced families.

Symbol of National Solidarity
Military officials emphasized that this initiative is not just financial support but a symbol of the Army’s resolve to share the suffering of the people. The armed forces have consistently played a central role during natural disasters in Pakistan, from floods to earthquakes, often being the first responders in crisis-hit areas.
Government and Public Response
The federal and provincial governments have welcomed the move, calling it a “much-needed and timely contribution” to ease the hardships of the flood-stricken population. Social media users also praised the Army’s gesture, describing it as an act of unity and compassion in the face of adversity.
Ongoing Challenges
Authorities warn that relief operations remain a massive challenge due to damaged infrastructure, with many remote villages still cut off. Humanitarian organizations have appealed for urgent national and international support to address the crisis, particularly in terms of clean drinking water, healthcare, and rehabilitation of destroyed homes.
