Washington/Islamabad (TASSAWAR NEWS) International affairs magazine The Diplomat has published a report highlighting a strategic shift in U.S. priorities, stating that Washington’s tilt is now clearly toward Pakistan rather than India.
According to the report, Pakistan has emerged as a key partner for the U.S. in South Asia and the Middle East, with recent regional tensions reshaping Washington’s military and diplomatic assessments.
The analysis suggests that India’s role as a “net security provider” in the region appears increasingly difficult, while U.S.–Pakistan ties have gained momentum through shared strategic interests.
“The U.S. no longer sees India as the sole alternative partner in South Asia,” the report notes, adding that this shift is causing unease in New Delhi.
Pakistan, on the other hand, has repeatedly shown readiness to improve relations with India. However, according to Islamabad, India has consistently responded with escalation rather than dialogue. The May 2025 Pakistan–India crisis further heightened fears of potential nuclear confrontation.
The magazine highlights that the U.S. played a key role in brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, but New Delhi’s continued refusal to engage in talks is straining its relationship with Washington.
